Exposure of his involvement in an affair with model Donna Rice cost former Colorado Democratic Senator Gary Hart a good shot at the 1988 presidential election. When a photo (right) showing Hart in the Bahamas on a yacht named "Monkey Business," with Rice happily perched on his lap began to circulate, he was unapologetic and fell from grace in the public eye. Hart had been the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, but dropped out of the race after the details of his infidelity were brought forth. When he briefly re-entered the campaign, his wife Lee (left) told TIME magazine that she did not want her husband to be president, but that she would support him in his decision. The couple, who went through rough patches before, separating once in 1979 and again in 1981, remains together largely due to Lee's steadfastness.
