The Baseline Killer
The Baseline Killer
In 2005 and 2006, the city of Phoenix was terrorized by a serial murderer known as the Baseline Killer. Nine murders and 15 sexual assaults have been attributed to this menace, who earned his monicker by carrying out his attacks around Baseline Road. Mark Goudeau, a parolee, was thought to resemble a sketch of the Baseline Killer, and in September, 2006, he was charged with the sexual assault of two sisters. He was convicted on 19 charges and sentenced to 438 years in prison. In October, 2011, he was convicted of 67 additional charges, including all nine Baseline killings, and sentenced to death. However, based on the police's handling of the case, many still believe that Goudeau is not the real Baseline Killer.
