Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, founded by singer and evangelist Tony Alamo, became the center of media attention in the fall of 2008 when state and federal agents raided the ministries' Arkansas property in search of child porn. The raid was triggered by former ministry members' accusations of underage marriage, polygamy, and sexual and physical abuse. Alamo denied the allegations but was arrested in Flagstaff, Ariz., charged with transporting minors over state lines for immoral activity. Alamo, 74, was tried and found guilty. On November 13, 2009, Alamo was sentenced to 175 years in prison.
