Neighbors on Imperial Avenue in Cleveland, OH., complained of a foul stench around this clapboard house, the residence of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell (pictured). The smell was largely blamed on a nearby sausage factory until October 29, 2009, when a search revealed the bodies of eleven women in the home.

Just over two years since the grisly discovery at this address, the home at 12205 Imperial Avenue was demolished. On Tuesday, December 6, crowds watched as a demolition crew tore down the house that once concealed the unthinkable. Once every piece of the house was gone, grass was planted on the spot where it had stood.
