Jonathan Hatch, an associate mathematics professor at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., was arrested and charged in June 2011 with one count of secret peeping, allegedly using a miniature digital camera built inside a pen to take upskirt photos of a student at the college. Police acted after the student noticed Hatch extending his hand toward her in a strange way as she sat before him. A police search of Hatch's computer discovered photos of the student shot up her skirt, along with photos of children in sexually suggestive positions, leading to additional charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. Hatch resigned before the college could complete its internal investigation leading the police to intervene.
