Idaho — Michael Bullard, Richard Armstrong, and James Whitewater
In Idaho there's no better way to celebrate Independence Day than to band together, chase down a black man, and beat him senseless. On July 4, 2008 a young African-American man left the Wal-Mart in Nampa after buying milk only to be accosted by the three. According to authorities, when the man left the store one of three assailants said, "What country do you think you're in?" before throwing his cigarette at the man. As the fists and racially charged insults rained down, one of the attackers' girlfriends evidently stood at a distance cheering her boys on. Following the attack the men joined in her celebration, laughing and congratulating each other. Bullard was sentenced in Federal Court to 51 months in prison, Armstrong to 46 months, and Whitewater to 18.
