Two in the bush
Teresa Lewis, 34, admitted to hiring two men to kill her husband, Julian Lewis, and her stepson, C.J. Lewis, so that she could collect insurance money. Her stepson had a life insurance policy worth $250,000 that named her husband as the primary beneficiary and Lewis as the alternate. She paid her lover Rodney Lewis, 20, and Matthew Shallenburger, 22, to commit the murders. On October 30, 2002, Lewis left the door open to her Keeling, Va., home and allegedly hid in the shower while her accomplices shot her husband and stepson to death. Lewis pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and was executed September 23, 2010. She was the first woman sentenced to death in Virginia since 1912.
