On November 17, 2011, the Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Sheriff's Office responded to a call from the Restoration Church about a child kidnapping. The mother of the child apparently arrived at the church to pick up her two children with Cynthia Birmingham, the alleged kidnapper. The woman told deputies that while she was getting her three year old, her companion, whom she called "Sylvia," left with the one year old. Luckily the child was found at a bus stop near the Dorman Centre Walmart. Birmingham was later apprehended and charged with kidnapping and grand larceny.
