David Dopp
David Dopp
David Dopp, 34, of Santaquin, Utah, won a lime green Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster on Saturday in the "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest sponsored by Maverik convenience stores. The car was worth about $380,000, that is, until Dopp, a truck driver for Frito Lay, lost it on a curve six hours after getting the keys. Dopp told family members that that he took the curve at 45 m.p.h., "hit some black ice and spun out." The convertible jumped the curb and went through a fence, coming to rest, totaled, in a field about 75 feet off the road. Dopp was uninjured, but on hearing about the accident, his wife, Annette Dopp reportedly said, "My heart pretty much fell out." The father of six cannot afford to fix it or pay the $3,500 semi-yearly insurance for it, so he is selling it. Ironically, Dopp also won $5,000 worth of driving lessons at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele County, of which he had, obviously, not yet taken advantage, but he did say he would be more careful the next time he drives.
