Thrill Ride
Two Sarasota, FL, grandparents have been arrested for allegedly putting their 7-year-old granddaughter in danger. Police say Paul and Belinda Jean Berloni tied the girl's plastic Hot Wheels car to the back of their SUV and towed her around while drunk. The couple's SUV was spotted on April 29 by a sheriff's deputy, who estimates the speed of the vehicle at 5 to 10 mph. The child was reportedly wearing a bathing suit at the time, and no protective gear. Paul Berloni, 49, was behind the wheel. He had allegedly been drinking alcohol, and admitted to police that his license had been revoked. Belinda Berloni, 47, who police say was also drunk, was reportedly watching the child from the SUV's open rear hatch. Both are charged with child endangerment. Paul Berloni was also charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license. The girl was picked up by her father.
