Steve McNair
Steve McNair
On July 4, 2009, former All-Pro quarterback Steve McNair (above), 36, was found shot to death in an apparent murder-suicide with his lover Sahel Kazemi, 20, in a condominium he leased with friend Wayne Neeley, who discovered the bodies. Kazemi's family relates that she told them she was preparing to move in with McNair and believed he was going to divorce his wife. McNair's wife, however, was apparently unaware of the affair and there is no evidence that he was planning to file for divorce. Early on the morning of July 2, Kazemi was arrested for DUI. McNair was a passenger in the car, but was allowed to leave the scene, later bailing her out. Later that night, Kazemi bought the handgun used in the murders. The next night, McNair was seen out with friends, but was found by Neeley the next morning with a gunshot wound to each temple and two to the chest. According to the medical examiner, three of the shots were taken from a distance, but one shot to the temple came from just inches away. The gun that killed Kazemi was in contact with her head when it discharged. A full account of motives and events of the night of the murders may never be known.
