When Anthony realized that his bed wasn't made, he told police when they interviewed him, he and Lally then started looking for Marina.
They knew something was wrong.
So Anthony called his grandmother downstairs to ask if she had seen Marina.
"I haven't heard from her," Anthony's grandmother said.
"She's not here?"
"She might be with some friends in New Hampshire."
Anthony said he called his father in Plymouth next, saying, "I haven't seen her."
"Check the hallway," Anthony said his father told him.
He held the phone. "Tom," Anthony said, after telling his father to hold on, "check the hallway for Marina."
Quiet.
Tom returned. "She's at the bottom of the stairs."
"Call the Quincy Police Department right now."
And here they were—back to square one.
