Silk Road founder: If Bitcoin isn’t really ‘money’ then he couldn’t have ‘laundered money’

The US recently determined that the digital currency would not be viewed as money by the IRS, but instead as “property.” And so naturally imprisoned Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht’s lawyer claims his client can’t be guilty of laundering money and asks for charges to be dismissed.

The “Dark Web” secret web site Silk Road, used by millions of people to illegally obtain mostly drugs, has been shut down by the Feds. The operator is in custody and facing charges in a NY Federal court.
