The Portland, Tex., police are seeking the public’s help in solving the murder of Mollie Olgin and the attempted murder of her girlfriend, Mary Kristene Chapa. Olgin and Chapa were both shot in the head while at Violet Andrews park in Portland. A new video released by Tri-County Crime Stoppers contains previously unreleased information about the crime.

Busy Lab Means Long Wait for Answers in Shooting of Teen Couple

It’s been nearly three months since two teenage girls were shot at Violet Andrews Park in Portland, Tex. Mollie Olgin, 19, died at the scene; her girlfriend, 18-year-old Mary Kristene Chapa survived and helped police develop a sketch of the shooter. The sketch generated an influx of leads, police have sent a batch of DNA samples from persons of interest to a forensics lab for testing. The lab, however, is backed up, and it’s unclear when the results will be ready.

Surviving Victim Helps Revise Sketch in Shooting of Teen Couple

Earlier this month, police released a composite sketch of the suspect in the June 22 shooting of Portland, Tex., women Mollie Olgin, 19, and Mary Kristene Chapa, 18. Now Chapa, who has been hospitalized since the shooting which killed her girlfriend Olgin, has made significant progress in her recovery and is assisting police in tracking down the shooter. With the help of Chapa’s description, the Texas Rangers have released a revised sketch of the suspect.

An unnamed eyewitness in the shooting of Mollie Judith Olgin, 19, and Mary Kristene Chapa, 18, has provided a description of the suspected gunman. The assailant is described as a dark-haired white male in his 20s, who stands at about 5’8″ and weighs about 140 lbs.

Teen Same-Sex Couple Shot in Park

Two teenage girls were shot in a Portland, Tex., park Friday. Mollie Judith Olgin, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene; her girlfriend, 18-year-old Mary Kristene Chapa, survived after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Hikers found the girls in a patch of tall grass Saturday morning.
