Computers used for operating the growhouse and child pornography

A Vancouver, Washington man busted last July will likely be carted off to Federal Prison to serve 8 years for collecting and sharing 8,000 digital files showing children of all ages being raped and abused.

Kenneth E. Smith pleaded guilty to the child pornography charges last year. Federal prosecutors requested a 8-year sentence for Smith. A lie detector test indicated that Smith may have personally abused children and he refused to offer details of his personal sexual history to investigators.

Investigators discovered the trove of pornography in an outbuilding on Smith’s property. But it wasn’t easy to find. Investigators

The secret elevator

discovered a secret door leading to an elevator, which was activated by a switch designed to be a container of glue. Once inside the elevator, the detectives activated it and rode to the second floor, which was packed with marijuana plants. A powerful computer was being used to control the marijuana growhouse and house the pornography. Smith had collected the child pornography for 12 years before being caught.
