Wedding bells for Charles Manson?

Even behind bars Charles Manson continues to attract followers. One 25-year-old doesn’t just believe in Manson’s innocence — she believes he’s husband material.

Rolling Stone reports that a young woman who goes by the moniker Star has been visiting Manson at Corcoran State Prison for the last 6 years, since she was 19. Star runs a website called Release Charles Manson Now, encouraging people to write letters to California Corrections officials pleading for the 79-year-old’s parole. Star, who is said to look just like Manson Family murderer Susan Atkins, has gone so far as to carve an X on her own forehead — as Manson’s female followers did in the 1970s.

But Star told the magazine her pursuit of Manson’s release is not only for justice, but for love. “I’ll tell you straight up, Charlie and I are going to get married,” she told the magazine. “When that will be, we don’t know. But I take it very seriously. Charlie is my husband. Charlie told me to tell you this.”

Perhaps this budding couple needs to work on their communication. Manson himself tells the Rolling Stone reporter that the marriage is far from impending: “Oh that. That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption.”

One thing is sure: the couple won’t be able to consummate their marriage even if it does happen. California no longer allows conjugal visits for prisoners with life sentences.
