Let’s face it, when trying to get large numbers of people from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds to follow one set of rules, you simply cannot have enough signage. Toilet signage tweeted by snowboarder Sebastian Toutant from the Sochi Olympics would seem to prove this point, but what does it say?
The general meaning of the sign is pretty obvious: Just sit on the toilet and do your business …please. The meaning of some of the vignettes, however, are less so. People are particularly wanting to know about the last two: No pole or” handfishin?
Those who wish to follow the rules, no doubt welcome any helpful interpretations.
