Mom Preserves Son’s Body for 18 Years Using Vodka

A woman in the former Soviet country of Georgia says she wanted to preserve her son’s body so that his children could “see what kind of father they had.”

A video shows the woman dusting the casket and then revealing the mummified corpse inside.

The mummy is the body of Joni Bakaradze who died at age 22. His mother decided against a traditional posthumous burial or cremation, instead opting to preserve the body herself, at first with balsam sap, a preservative. Later the idea of using vodka came to her in a dream so she switched to the spirit. She says that she needs to add the alcohol every day or else the corpse would turn black.
