Luka Magnotta, the so-called Canadian Psycho, will next appear in a Montreal court on October 9, 2013. Magnotta killed and dismembered Chinese university student Jun Lin and then mailed his body parts all over the country — including to the offices of Canadian elected officials.

Lawyers requested the hearing to discuss evidentiary and scheduling matters ahead of Magnotta’s trial, which has been set for September 15, 2014, more than two years after the May 2012 murder. The former porn star’s defense team had unsuccessfully sought an earlier trial date, pointing out that Magnotta did not fight extradition after he was captured in Germany after a worldwide manhunt.
