Fake Nurse Arrested at Hospital

The old adage “fake it til you make it” doesn’t really apply in the case of California woman Crystal Cook, accused of impersonating a nurse at a San Jose hospital.

Police say Cook, 29, was seen walking around the hospital wearing scrubs, a stethoscope and a fake badge. No patients were at risk, say hospital staff, because Cook didn’t make it that far into the hospital. “We don’t believe she ever got to the patient care area. Nurses on every floor would know who is supposed to be working there and they would not have allowed somebody who wasn’t supposed to be there to just show up. It’s impossible,” a hospital spokesperson told San Francisco’s KGO-TV.

It’s hard to say why someone would fake being a nurse, or a cop, or a war hero, and expect to get away with it. It does seem to happen a lot, though. Check out our gallery of fakers here.
