In a Facebook post that really must’ve freaked out his friends, and has proved to be quite the jaw dropper to the general online population, South Florida man Derek Medina posted a photo of what seemed to be his wife’s murdered body and confessed to having killed her.
On August 8, 2013, Medina updated his Facebook status saying, “Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news” my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me ” ”
Later, as if to prove what he had done Medina posted a photo of what looked like the body of a woman sprawled on her back, legs bent, on a kitchen floor with her head near an oven. Over it he wrote, Rest in peace Jennifer Alfonso.
According to police, who have not yet announced any motive in the case, Medina, 31, shot his wife Jennifer Alfonso, 26, several times in their town home, posted to Facebook and turned himself in. In the affidavit he reportedly stated that after she punched him repeatedly while brandishing a knife. When she allegedly threatened to leave him, however, Medina allegedly got his gun and shot her to death.
With Medina in custody they went to investigate and found a woman’s body and a Alfonso’s daughter, 10, in the home. The girl was not hurt.
Medina and Alfonso were married twice, once in January 2010, divorced in February 2012, and then remarried in May 2012. Medina had several photos of himself and Alfonso posted on Facebook.
