Crime Library: Criminal Minds and Methods

Etan Patz case back to open, unanswered. A mystery.

The man who confessed last year to the murder of 6-year-old Etan Patz will probably walk due to a lack of physical evidence to support his story, according to prosecutors. Pedro Hernandez’s arrest prompted a flurry of new activity in the Patz case last year when he said he lured the boy into the NYC bodega where he worked, killed him, stashed his backpack in the refrigerator and disposed of the boy’s body in the trash.

Hernandez’s attorney Harvey Fishbein claims his client suffers from bipolar and schizophrenic mental illnesses and that his confession is not reliable, The NY Post reported.
