Chardon High School Shooter T.J. Lane was sentenced on March 18, 2013, for the February 27, 2012, murders of three students in the school’s cafeteria. Families of the victims were given the opportunity to make statements to Lane, who didn’t miss a single opportunity to show how pleased he is with himself, despite his having been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for the murders of Daniel Parmertor, Russell King and Demetrius Hewlin. Student Nick Walczak is now in a wheelchair.
The first sign that reality has not yet penetrated Lane’s brain was the white shirt he wore to the sentencing with the word “Killer” written on it. He wore a similar shirt for the shootings. Lane made sure to smirk during the victims’ families’ statements and finally said, “The hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory… F— all of you,” he gave them the “finger” and turned away.
Of the “rudeness bomb” that Lane had intended to drop on the proceedings, Nick Mueller, a student who was nicked in the ear during Lane’s rampage, was unimpressed, “He said it like a scared little boy and couldn’t talk slow enough that anyone could understand him,” said Mueller.
Lane’s sister Sadie, who was in the cafeteria on the fateful day in 2012, says that she no longer recognizes the boy who was her brother in the killer who was sentenced, and asks for prayers for her family.
