Eric Cuellar and Justin Teixeira, both 24, were seen on surveillance cameras chasing a 14-year-old helmeted guinea fowl into the trees at the Flamingo hotel’s Wildlife Habitat on Friday October 12, 2012. According to police, “Security had allegedly seen these men chasing the bird into a brushy treed area of that habitat and then coming out of that area with the bird in two pieces.” By the time police arrived at around 9:30 a.m., witnesses said that two students had been entertaining themselves by tossing the severed head and carcass around, and ”According to the security people, the men were laughing and joking about the fact of what they had done,” said John Sheahan of Las Vegas Metro Police. Cuellar and Teixeira, both arrested on felony charges of conspiracy and the willful, malicious torture or killing of wildlife, must not have learned much at law school. Perhaps they will be defending themselves.
