Actor Johnny Lewis, who played Kip “Half-Sack” Epps on the FX series Sons of Anarchy was found dead at the Los Angeles home where he lived Wednesday, after an alleged rampage that left his elderly landlady dead. Police believe Lewis, 28, may have been on drugs when he beat the 81-year-old woman to death before falling or jumping to his death from the roof of the house. When police responded to reports of a screaming woman, they found Lewis’s body in the driveway and the woman’s body inside. Before police arrived, a neighbor and a handyman tried to intervene, but Lewis reportedly fought them off with a 2-by-4 and, reports TMZ, displayed “super human strength.”
Lewis had recently been released from jail, where he spent six weeks for an assault conviction. The New York Daily News reports that he had also been convicted of first degree burglary.
Besides his role on Sons of Anarchy, Lewis appeared on several TV series including The O.C., Seventh Heaven, and Criminal Minds, and a string of feature films, most notably Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.
