San Bernardino County Sheriffs are investigating after a Newberry Springs, Calif., woman’s dog, ‘Lucky,’ came home with a human foot and attached leg bone. The dog’s owner, Erica, saw Lucky with something on the front porch. She expected to see a bird or other small animal and was horrified when she saw what he was carrying, “It didn’t seem like it was real…It was freaky, scary and I was in shock.” She called the Sherrif’s Department, whose investigators searched a stretch of I-40 in the Mojave Desert, and found more body parts.

Investigators did not list which body parts they found, but did say that they cannot determine the race or gender of the remains. They have not announced whether there is a single victim, or multiple, but have ordered DNA testing on the body parts. In the meanwhile, detectives are scouring missing person reports and appealing to the public for information.

Anyone with information about the remains is urged to call Detective Randy German or Sgt. Brad Toms at 909-387-3598. Anonymous tips can be left on the We Tip hotline, 1-800-78-CRIME
