Ridge View High School cheerleader Gabrielle “Gabbiee” Swainson, 16, is still missing after six days, despite efforts to locate the girl. A sleeping Gabbiee was last seen at her home on Saturday, August 18, 2012, around 3:30 p.m. by her mother, Elvia Swainson, who was leaving for work. The mother told investigators that when she returned the next morning around 7:15 a.m., the alarm clock, which had been set for 5:45 a.m. had gone off, and was still ringing, but the Ridge View High School student was not in the home. There was not sign of forced entry and nothing was missing except the girl’s cell phone, which the mother had handed her before going off the work..
According to her mother, “This is very out of character. Gabbiee is a good girl, a good student. She has been taking guitar lessons and she just made the cheerleading team at Ridgeview High School. She was very excited about going back to school Thursday because she had made the squad. She had just picked out her book-sack as well as the clothes she was going to wear to school.”
Investigators did find some of Gabrielle’s blood in her room, and say the case does not bear the classic signs of a runaway. Investigator Chandra Cleveland-Jennings said, “She is a girly-girl who would never leave the house in pajamas. She always makes sure her makeup is done before she leaves the house and she is a habitual texter, but there has been no form of communication from her.” Cleveland-Jennings believes the child may have been abducted from the home.
A woman’s body found early in the morning on August 23 proved not to be the body of the missing cheerleader, though there was some brief speculation and fear that it could have been.
Gabrielle is described as a black female, about 5-feet-2-inches tall with black hair. She was last seen wearing pink and black pajamas.
