On July 29, a four-month-old infant was brought, unresponsive, to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. From there, she was airlifted to an Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, where she died. Today, a 22-year-old man has been arrested on charges of homicide and child cruelty. Police say Galvin Sola was taking care of the child while her mother — Sola’s girlfriend — went to the store for about thirty minutes. By the time the mother returned, the infant had suffered a fatal head injury.
Florida Today reports that Sola was charged with battery in May, but that those charged were later dropped. On Monday, Sola changed his Facebook profile and cover photos to plain black rectangles. Previously, his cover photo was a close-up of a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Though it has not been confirmed whether Sola ever served in the Armed Forces, his Facebook photo albums contain multiple pictures of him in an Army uniform or Army PT gear. Based on the non-regulation haircut seen in his booking photo, it does not appear that Sola is currently in the military.
The investigation is still pending and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 321-633-8413. Sola is being held without bond.
