Moviegoers fled a Miami Beach theater during an early Tuesday showing of ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ trying to escape what some believed was another shooting in the style of the recent Aurora tragedy. According to witnesses, a man wearing black gloves yelled the words ”this is it!” from the back of the packed theater toward the end of the film. Police, who received multiple reports of a shooting, arrived to find the suspect, David Martin Escamillo, being restrained by three moviegoers in a theater littered with shoes.

Witnesses say Escamillo, 44, had been pacing around the theater during the movie. He then left after getting into an argument with another patron, only to return with gloves on and shout the words that caused 140 panicked moviegoers to rush for the door. Police say Escamillo was intoxicated and incoherent. He was charged with disorderly conduct and held on $8,000 bond.

On Sunday, 40 people evacuated a Colorado movie theater after a man allegedly entered carrying a concealed weapon. He was arrested, but may not be charged because he had a valid concealed carry permit.
