Man Poses as DEA Agent to Get Into Lockup

Ford Cummings

Ford Truitt Cummings

In an impressive display of reckless bravado, Nacogdoches man Ford Truitt Cummings, 32, entered the visitation area of the county lockup around midnight on June 26 purporting to be a DEA agent. Cummings informed jailers that he was there to take a prisoner into his custody. Jail staff noted that Cummings was armed, but in an area where it is prohibited to carry arms, and had no ID. They figured out pretty quickly that he was not law enforcement, disarmed him and arrested him on charges of carrying a prohibited weapon and impersonating a public servant. The reports do not mention which prisoner Cummings was trying to get released, or why.
