In a Friday afternoon jaw-dropping cliffhanger, Matt Sandusky, 33, the adopted son of Jerry Sandusky, alleged that he was molested by the former Penn State assistant football coach — and the sequestered jury is unaware of this new development in the case. FOX News reports that Thursday, during the first day of the jury’s deliberations, reports of allegations by Matt Sandusky of sexual abuse began to surface.
In a prepared statement, Matt Sandusky’s lawyer Andrew Shubin said, “Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky’s abuse.” He added, “This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt”
In an interview, Debra Long, Matt Sandusky’s biological mother told ABC News that she felt that Jerry Sandusky had groomed her son for abuse, “I would sit back and I would watch when Jerry would show up how excited Matt was. And as time went on, I would watch the same kid hide behind the bedroom door and say, ‘Mom, tell him I’m not home.’”
Friday Prosecutors met with Matt Sandusky and his attorney, who offered Matt Sandusky’s testimony against his adoptive father. Matt Sandusky, had denied any allegations of abuse in the past. In fact, he sat with the family in support of Jerry Sandusky during the trial. His offer to testify was rejected.
There was no comment from the Sandusky Defense team.
